This is the first and only book on design for pediatric and neonatal care. For this reason alone, it would be an important contribution to the field of healthcare and design. In addition, the book's content is first-rate. Dr. Shepley's writing is clear and comprehensive. Guest author contributions by clinicians, designers, and researchers add further depth. Photos, illustrations, and diagrams illustrate research, concepts, and successful design implementation. This book is a must-read for anyone involved in this field, including healthcare clinicians and administrators, designers, researchers, and students.

Can create a really useless half-baked knowledge...

Half knowledge is more dangerous to use than no knowledge. The book calls out specific algorithms (k-means, etc) on sample data sets and attempts to showcase how these could be applied to real-world use cases in the world of medicine. This is very similar to a whole lot of "data scientists" being produced by learning how to apply a tool and an algorithm while completely missing the need to "reason / analyze / infer / remove bias / ..." to make sense of the output. How do you know that there is a different model that could do better than this one? There is no such context provided to compare models, reason the output, etc Not impressed, any "cookbook" of this sort unfortunately dilutes the body of knowledge and creates more "cooks" who could spoil the broth....

His subspecialty areas of interest are gastrointestinal and musculoskeletal radiology. Catherine A Johnson is a senior fellow in radiology at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London. She graduated from Imperial College London in 2002. Aft er completing her basic surgical training, she trained as a radiologist in East Anglia and London. Great Resource when Preparing for the Oral Board Exam!

The book is very handy resource that presents a huge amount of content in a concise manner, making it easy to read and comprehend. It provides a great number of mnemonics to help with memory recall and highlights important areas to note for the board exam. In addition, the book is filled with great images, that serve to reinforce the messages and present the content visually, aiding with your memory recall.

I would highly recommend this book to all trainees in radiology whether you are initially starting in this area or preparing for the Oral Board exam - it helped me get through it big time!

Note, this book looks to be written by someone in the UK, but is also applicable to the Oral Board exam here in the US.

Simply Put: ESSENTIAL !!

I write essential because I mean it. To start: A foreword from Mark Lewisohn!! But John Winn deserves it and Lewisohn hits the nail on the head in the opening pages. This book is a wonderfully massive undertaking detailing the fascinating story behind each and every television, radio appearance, press conference, studio recording etc (and where you can find them!). I am biased because i'm a huge Beatles fan, but to me it is still a wonder after reading so many books on or about The Beatles that you can be knocked off your feet by a new book that is as fun, fascinating, and historically accurate as one could imagine. In my opinion there are essential Beatles books you should own if you're a hard core fan or casual fan alike:

The Beatles Anthology, by The Beatles
Shout, by Phillip Norman
Many Years From Now, by Barry Miles
The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions, by Mark Lewisohn
and...Way Beyond Compare, by John Winn

Absolutely Essential to Understanding The Beatles

There are so many Beatles books out there. Yet there are very few authors who can chronicle the band's recording history with accuracy, authority and style. Mark Lewisohn certainly can. John Winn demonstrates once again that he can as well. Winn earned the absolute trust of the international cadre of rabid Beatles enthusiasts with his first release of Way Beyond Compare. This second edition includes more than a hundred new entries that detail The Beatles' recordings, interviews, concerts, and appearances. His book captures and skillfully details the entire known visual and audio record of the band through 1965. Winn also identifies the release histories and best sources for all these sound recordings and videos. His work deserves a broader audience. Buy it for yourself or give it to the Beatles lovers you know.

"The Way Beyond Compare" is the definitive, most accurate, thorough, helpful, and authoritative document study of The Beatles' complete output, including official releases, outtakes, live performances, broadcasts, compositional drafts and much more.
It is also the ONLY credible source on spoken-word recordings such as press conferences, interviews, skits and unscripted banter.
John Winn's two-volume set (the other being "That Magic Feeling") is indispensible for any collector of Beatle recordings.
It is highly recommended for anyone wishing to learn more about what the Beatles played, sang and said, and the release history footnotes tells where the material first appeared.
The book is also very entertaining and easily read, and it is as important as books like "The Complete Beatles Chronicle" and "The Beatles Recording Sessions" by Mark Lewisohn.
If you're into collecting Beatles this is a book you cannot do without!

Images of females are often emphasized or sexualized, frequently through nudity or partial nudity, whereas those of the male body are not only clothed but also armored in the trappings of action and aggression. Thomas locates these various objects of folk art within a discussion of the post-women's movement discourse on gender. In addition to the items themselves, Thomas explores the stories and behaviors they generate, including legends of the supernatural about cemetery statues, oral narratives of yard artists and accounts of pranks involving yard art, narratives about children's play with Barbie, Ken, and G.I. Joe, and the electronic folklore (or e-lore) about Barbie that circulates on the Internet.
